
Workshop on Strategic Planning of Chandragiri Municipality focusing on DRR and WASH commenced
A 2-days long workshop on Strategic Planning of Chandragiri Municipality focusing on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)/Water Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) commenced in Kathmandu on 28 and 29 December 2016. The workshop was primarily aims to develop strategic document of Chandragiri municipality focused on DRR and WASH Sector. It is also intended to improve the coordination among municipal authority and local disaster management committee (LDMC) members and to have an interaction among key stakeholders on local level issues and input to develop defined document. Around 30 participants representing Chandragiri Municipality, Local Disaster Management Committee and Lumanti attended the workshop. The workshop was facilitated by Prafulla Man Singh Pradhan, Past President of Lumanti Support Group for Shelter.
Lumanti Support Group for Shelter with the support of Oxfam is implementing Nepal Earthquake Response (NER) project in Chandragiri and Nagarjun Municipality since last earthquake. Within the project many activities are implemented in the targeted municipalities focused on WASH, Shelter, DRR & Gender. Particularly in Chandragiri Municipality along with recovery program introduce the preparedness activities of DRR based on Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction (CBDRR) approach. Activities such as formation of local level structure, conduction of Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment (VCA), Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Plan, first aid training etc are being done during the project implementation period.
