Support to Earthquake affected families in Rasuwa
Lumanti Support Group for Shelter in partnership with Cord Aid has conducted household level survey in Ward 7 and ( of Laharepauwa VDC and Ward 3 and 4 of Dhaibung 3, 4 VDC in order to gather information from each house regarding the construction process.
100 houses from Laharepauwa ward 7 and 80 houses from Laharepauwa 9 were surveyed. The first installment amounting to NRs 50000.00 has been transferred to 25 families from Laharepauwa ward 7 as of the guidelines issued by National Reconstruction Authority. Those families have already started the site clearance, collection of materials. Lumanti team is helping those families with site layout, design and quantity estimate, orientation for safe construction and quality control.
Apart from the shelter support for the individual families, WASH support programs in Narayansthan Lower Secondary School, Sundhara Lower Secondary School, Kalika Himalaya Secondary School and Nawa Bijaya Secondary School are on progress.
Support for strengthening women saving groups in Dhaibung and Laharepauwa VDCs are also on place. Kalikasthan Women saving and credit co-operative, where 861 women from 17 saving groups formed with the joint support of Lumanti and Cord Aid were merged, is working smoothly. Lumanti and Cord Aid is helping this co-operative with audit and reformation of board members including representative from each saving group. Women group in Laharepauwa are still working through informal women groups. 19 women groups with 853 members are actively saving and receiving loan for different livelihood activities.
In addition to this, construction of stock pile building/module house in Laharepauwa-3, Majhgaoun is at the final stage of completion. Lumanti and Cord Aid is planning to provide search and rescue materials and handover the structure to DMC by the end of September 2016.
