Community Children Workshop
Lumanti Support Group for Shelter organized “Community Children Workshop” on 26th February, 2022 Saturday at Bagaicha Lubhu, Ward No. 8, Mahalaxmi Municipality, Lalitpur. The program was organized in coordination with Shree Mahalaxmi Mahabhairav Bagaicha Samrakshyan Users Committee, local community, local government (ward, municipality), sub-committee members and other concerned stakeholders. It is part of the 5 Model Cities Project supported by Asian Coaliation for Housing Rights and SELAVIP in Lubhu, Mahalaxmi Municipality.
The workshop used art, script writing, tree plantation and read aloud on stories of heritage settlements as the medium of expression in participatory method specially to engage children in making the Bagaicha- a children friendly space. 18 local children participated in the Ranjana Script Workshop.
The children workshop was accompanied by various other supportive organizations like storytelling (read aloud) was led by Baakha Nyane Waa, Ranjana Lipi workshop was conducted by Nepal Lipi Guthi and Newaz Group painted the wall with Ranjana script to promote the traditional script. The program followed with the tree plantation by Mayor Rameshwor Shrestha, Deputy Mayor Nirmala Thapa and local children. The children took part in tree plantation with the aim to take care of the plant and garden in Bagaicha.
During the workshop, Rameshwor Shrestha, Mayor of Mahalaxmi Municipality highlights the importance of heritage, culture and tradition. He added Ranjana Script was the script used to register Nepal as a sovereign nation in United Nations (UN). Mayor Shrestha distributed the prizes for the Best Ranjana Script including participants in workshop and honored Users Committee for supporting the program at the end of the event. The name card written in Ranjana Script was also distributed to all the participants.
