Completion Certificate Handover to Earthquake affected families in Rasuwa
The rebuilt houses constructed with the financial and technical support by Lumanti and Cordaid were handed over to 66 earthquake affected families in Ward no. 5, Majghgaun, Laharepauwa of Uttargaya Rural Municipality on 8th September 2017.
Chief Guest of the program, Kul Prasad Bhatta, Chief of District Coordination Committee, Rasuwa including Upendra Lamshal, Chairperson of Uttargaya Rural Municipality jointly handed over completion certificate of 66 homes with toilets. The certificate distribution function was organised by Lumanti Support Group for Shelter and Cordaid.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest of the program Kul Prasad Bhatta, Chief of District Coordination Committee, Rasuwa expressed happiness on the work done by Lumanti Support Group for Shelter and Cordaid. He added the quake affected families will be delighted to celebrate the upcoming festival Dashain in their new home.
Upendra Lamshal, Chairperson of Uttargaya Rural Municipality urged that the government including stakeholders should take responsibility on the reconstruction activities. He thanked Lumanti and Cordaid for reconstruction, DRR and WASH support in Rasuwa. He hopes to get continuous support in upcoming days.
On the occasion, Chemali Gurung, Vice Chairperson of Uttargaya Rural Municipality, Bhawani Prasad Neupane, Vice Chief of Kalika Rural Municipality, Mohan Kumar Shrestha, Executive Officer, Pushpa Raj Neupane, Chairperson, Ward No. 3 Uttargaya Rural Municipality, Keshar Bahadur Bulun and Ishwor Thapa, Chairperson of Ward No. 4 and Ward No. 5 of Uttargaya Rural Municipality respectively highlighted on the reconstruction and other activities of Lumanti and Cordaid in Rasuwa.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, Ram Bahadur Bishwakarma, 55, a resident of a dalit community in Laharepauwa of Rasuwa district recalled his hard time after he has lost his home due to the earthquake. After receiving the completion certificate, he said "After 28 months, I feel delighted to live in new home with financial and technical support for Lumanti and Cordaid." Another beneficiary from the same community Krishna Kumari Bishwakarma said,"Due to the poverty we were compelled to live in temporary shelter, we are thankful to Lumanti and Cordaid for their support in the reconstruction in our community."

Lumanti in partnership with Cordaid has been implementing reconstruction program in Ward no. 4 and 5 of Uttargaya Rural Municipality and Ward no. 3 of Kalika Rural Municipality targeting 380 earthquake affected families. Lumanti and Cordaid is providing technical as well as financial assistance to the affected families for construction of permanent and safe homes.
