
Interaction and Exposure Visit for Stakeholders
Lumanti Support Group for Shelter, under DIPECHO VIII project, organized interaction cum exposure visit to the key representatives of LHDRT (Local Health Disaster Response Team), CHDRT (Community Health Disaster response Team), DMC (Disaster management Committee) and PMC (Primary Health Center, Health post) on 10th March 2016. DIPECHO VIII is being implemented in 8 particular wards of Kirtipur Municipality (1-6, 17 & 9).
The major objectives of the program is to have an interaction of locally formed structure with the well prepared hospital of Kathmandu that Teaching hospital to provide better health services during emergencies. Witnessed to the last Gorkha Earthquake program was also aimed to learn on the responses that made by Teaching and its linkages with community based health response structure. And also to explore possible way to link with identified Hub hospital to have link in future through the community based structure.
Mr Pradeep Vaidya, Professor, Department of Surgery, Tribhuvan University, Teaching Hospital (TUTH) and Disaster management Section Chair presented paper on how is Teaching hospital prepared to provide better health services in emergencies. He emphasized that TUTH is prepared since 5 years along with the pre-positioning of required medicines along with the Incident Command system which really helped and practically proved could performed in last earthquake. He feels proud that WHO well recognized them as a prepared service provider witnessing last Earthquake.
Ms Sobina Lama, DRR Program Manager and Ms Neera Gurung, DIPECHO Officer from Lumanti shared, introduced and briefed about the ongoing community level activity and objective of the program. Whereas Mr Rajan Subedi, DIPECHO Manager in Oxfam shared on consortium initiatives as DIPECHO VIII.
