
Nepal Earthquake Recovery and Reconstruction Project Launched
A formal program to launch Nepal Earthquake Recovery and Reconstruction Project commenced in Shankharapur Municipality on 5th July 2017. The launching program was jointly organized by Lumanti Support Group for Shelter HomeNet, WHR and Oxfam.
The launching program was organized with an aim to share the program activities of Nepal Earthquake Recovery and Reconstruction Project with Shankharapur Municipality and other stakeholders. The program also intends to build cordial relation with the municipality and explore the ways of smooth operation and implementation of the project.
Speaking in the occasion, the newly elected Mayor of Shankharapur Municipality Subarna Shrestha said, municipality is happy to see all the planned initiatives by different organization. Whatever plan presented expecting for its smooth operation and municipality will be there to support and monitor the work done and invest in right place."
Deputy Mayor of the Municipality Sukra Laxmi Shakya appreciated Lumanti's support during an emergency situation with temporary shelter. She added, "Its good news that intense program is planned in our municipality. The program need to be emphasize to support livelihood initiatives for women particularly in searching of market for production."
Durga Nath Gautam, Chief Executive Officer of the municipality emphasized on the support to ODF campaign that municipality is planning to declare by the end of Bhadra. He added, "Lumanti is here to facilitate us in our own program so would request all the ward chair to support it and make it success."
The launching program was initiated with the welcome remarks by DRR Program Manager of Lumanti Support Group for Shelter Sobina Lama followed by the presentation on overall activities of the project along with the budget detail by Bijay Dhital, Project Coordinator of Lumanti Support Group for Shelter.
Lumanti has been implementing the Nepal Earthquake Recovery and Reconstruction Project in all wards of Shankharpur Municipality from June till December 2017 with partnership with Oxfam. Other organization like HomeNet and WHR is also working in collaboration of livelihood and women issues.
