
Social Audit Program concluded in Rasuwa
Lumanti Support Group for Shelter and Parivartan Patra in coordination with CORDAID Nepal jointly conducted its Social Audit program on 11 November, 2017. The program was organized to disseminate the program activities, achievements and financial status.
More than 150 people representing community members, beneficiaries, government officials, chairperson and vice chairpersons of the rural municipalities, ward officials, DLPIU, Deputy CDO, representatives from District Coordination Committee - Rasuwa and stakeholders attended the program.
Chief Guest of the program District Coordination Officer of Rasuwa, Rajendra Dev Pandey appreciated the activities and performance of CORDAID, Lumanti and Parivartan Patra. Talking about the efforts made by CORDAID, Lumanti and Parivartan Patra, he also appreciated the spirit of coordination between the stakeholders, government officials and beneficiaries for the progress on reconstruction, livelihood, DRR and WASH.
Chairperson of Uttargaya Rural Municipality Upendra Lamsal highlighted importance of the project and its better impact on the people of two rural municipalities of Rasuwa. He thanked CORDAID, Lumanti and Parivartan Patra for their inputs and great team effort for the successful conduction of the project.
Chairperson of Kalika Rural Municipality Sita Paudel Adhikari expressed her happiness on the hard work done by CORDAID, Lumanti and Parivartan Patra. Recalling the initial phase of the project activities, she appreciated the initiatives made by Lumanti under its reconstruction project and also talked about stockpile center and other capacity building training provided by Lumanti during the project works. Talking about the community finance initiated in Rasuwa, she said, formation and strengthening of women groups and cooperatives will definitely lead to sustainable development and it helps to enhance the leadership quality of the women in Rasuwa. She also expressed her gratitude to Lumanti for supporting to prepare village profile and for the support to control Dhobikhola landslide.
Neal Deles, representative of CORDAID headquater, Netherland thanked the government of Nepal and stakeholders for welcoming and allowing CORDAID to work in Nepal. He also thanked CARITAS Nepal. He said, "The project was funded by the individuals from the Netherland. This is the expression of solidarity of the people of Netherland for the Nepal". On his remarks he appreciated the hard work by implementing partners Lumanti and Parivartan Patra. He further said, CORAD believes in the power and strength of people in community to make a change to build a world where people are safe who live and dignity.
Vice Chairpersons of Kalika and Uttargaya Rural Municipality Bhawani Prasad Neupane, and Chemali Gurung, Administrative Officer of Uttargaya Rural Municipality, Ward Chairpersons of Uttargaya 4 and 5, Member of Kalika Rural Municipality, Member of District Coordination Committee- Rasuwa Arjun Paudel, Deputy CDO of Rasuwa district Manoj Kumar Pokhrel, Head of DLPIU and District President of Federation of Nepalese Journalists Hemnath Khadiwada and District President of Federation of Nepalese Journalists Hemnath Khadiwada also delivered their remarks during the program.
The social audit program was initiated with the remarks from Country Representative of CORDAID Nepal Milan Mukhiya. On his remarks he shared the challenges and the opportunities that has come across during the implementation of the project and highlighted the achievements in brief. He also expressed his gratitude to the stakeholders, beneficiaries, government officials and implementing partner organizations;
During the program, Executive Director of Lumanti Support Group for Shelter Lajana Manandhar and Senior Program Manager of Parivartan Patra Salina presented their paper focusing on the key achievements of the program. They also highlighted the challenges and learnings that they have come across during the implementation of the project.
Followed by the presentation, representatives from community shared their views regarding the project. On behalf of beneficiaries, Sita Paudel and Govinda Osti thanked CORDAID, Lumanti and Parivartan Patra for the irrigation facilities, WASH support and reconstruction. They said, technical support from Lumanti and Parivartan Patra and various trainings made us easy to have access to drinking water in the community. Another representative from the community Ram Bahadur Bishwakarma thanked Lumanti for the hard work on reconstruction in two rural municipalities. He thanked Lumanti team on behalf of dalit community.
