Resettlement of Bhauraha community in Kalaiya
Housing for 30 low-income families in Bhauraha community in Kalaiya has been completed. Mayor of Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City Mr. Rajesh Rao Yadav inaugurated the housing in Bhaura community in Kalaiya on 24th March 2022.
This housing project was formally launched by Lumanti in collaboration with Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City with support from Abbe Pier Foundation, MISEREOR and Build Up Nepal on 19th February 2021. This housing project was implemented in collaboration between Lumanti (with support from MISEREOR), Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City, Build Up Nepal and Abbe Pier Foundation. The housing construction program was initiated by organizing a mass gathering in the project intervening committee in participation of the Mayor of Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City.
On the occasion, the community people were briefed about the housing project which is followed by the formation of community users’ group and women saving and credit group in the community. After the identification of the project beneficiaries in coordination with the ward office and Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City, land measurement works were carried out with technical support from the Municipal engineer.
On 19th of February 2021, the initiation program to start the housing construction was organized. Followed by the ritual process, the Mayor of the Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City Mr. Rajesh Rao Yadav laid the first stone for house construction. On the occasion, Mayor Mr. Yadav handed over the cheque worth NRs 1800,000/- to Lumanti as the contribution support for housing construction. The funding partner Abbe Pier Foundation is providing NRs. 150000/- for each family whereas Build Up Nepal is collaborating technical assistance for bricks production and also has provided additional NRs. 50000/- for each family.
Lumanti has introduced CSEB inter-locking bricks in technical collaboration with Build UP Nepal for the construction of the houses. The Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City has provided funding support to purchase bricks production machine for the community-based organization (UPAF) who is supporting for the production of bricks along with the labour contribution from the beneficiary households.
