Impact of CLIFF Housing Program: Case of Adhirajkumari Kuwar
Adhirajkumari Kunwar was born in Lekhnath where she later married a man named Jumal. After her marriage, she spent a year living at her in-laws before moving back to her hometown Lekhnath. While back in Lekhnath, Kunwar faced immense hardship due to her husband’s drug addiction and his resignation from the Nepali Police force. She was living with her sister before she finishes the construction of her new home. She is struggling alone to give her only son a better life.
While she owns land in Lekhnath that was granted by her father, she has yet to be able to build her own home. The accessibility of loan support under the CLIFF Housing Program has given her the opportunity to finally construct her own home. Though her house is small in size, Kunwar views her shelter as a palace due to the tireless amount of effort that she has endured to complete the structure.
