Renovation of traditional Stone spout in Chapagaun, Lalitpur
With the financial and technical support from Lumanti in coordination of the Godawari Municipality and ward office, a traditional stone spout and water system in Chapagaon in Lalitpur has been renovated in active participation of the local people and the members of Hiti Gaa Sachaa Pucha (Users Committee).
Completing the renovation project, Lumanti Support Group for Shelter and Ward 11 of Godawari Municipality organized a social audit and Stone spout handover program in Chapagaon, Lalitpur on 17 October 2020. The Social audit program was aimed to share about accomplishments of the project and its activities, challenges and lessons learnt with the various stakeholders of the community. During the program the financial detail of the renovation works of Hiti (stone spout) was also presented in the presence of various key stakeholders of the project including Mayor Gajendra Maharjan, Deputy Mayor Muna Adhikari, Ward Chairperson Nil Bahadhur Desar, ward officials, Treasurer of Lumanti Support Group for Shelter Anil Sthapit, Chairperson of Thecho Mahila Jagaran Cooperative Ltd. Laxmi Tara Dangol, and the representatives of users Committee, community members and stakeholders.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor of Godawari Municipality, Gajendra Maharjan appreciated the contribution made by Hiti Gaa Sachaa Pucha (users Committee) and Lumanti team. He recalled Lumanti's supported in reconstruction and different infrastructure activities in Godawari municipality and expressed his wish for further partnership with Lumanti in coming years too. He further said, Lumanti is working on Heritage Recovery Plan of Chapagaun, Thecho and Thaiba of Godawari municipality. A comprehensive heritage recovery plan will be prepared by the community for the people in the community and the local government is always in support, he added.
On the occasion, the Hiti Gaa Sachaa Pucha (Users Committee) has honoured Lumanti, Thecho Mahila Jagaran Cooperative Ltd. and Godawari municipality with the Token of Love.
Concluding the social audit program. Manish Shakya, Chairperson of Hiti Gaa Sachaa Pucha (Users Committee) acknowledged the financial & technical support from Lumanti and municipality. He said that the community is grateful towards the support from Lumanti and Municipality for the renovation of the traditional stone spout and water system.
