Government official´s monitoring visit to Thecho and Sanogaon organized

The team of government officials representing Department of Urban Development and Building Construction (DUDBC) - Central Level Project Implementing Committee (CLPIU) along with Engineers from National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) in Siddhipur and Bajrabarahi Municipality visited the reconstruction projects in Thecho and Sanogaon being implement by Lumanti on 13th February 2017. The key objective of the government official´s visit was to observe the progress of the reconstruction programs and to monitor the technical aspects of building construction.
 
Deputy Director from CLPIU-DUDBC Parikshit Kadaria withEngineers Sunita Kutu and Anjana Shrestha from NRA Bajrabarahi and NRA Siddhipur respectively, during their monitoring visit to Thecho and Sanogaon, observed the buildings being constructed and provided the feedback to the house owners and suggested to correct the construction errors. The visiting team also urged for extensive supervision and regular follow-up from Lumanti technical team on construction progress and process to avoid construction errors. The monitoring visit from government officials was organized by Lumanti Support Group for Shelter. Lumanti is planning to organize similar monitoring visit to other reconstruction project sites in Chitlang, Rasuwa, Chpagaon, Dalchowki and Machhegaon in near future.
 
Lumanti has been implementing reconstruction projects with support from MISEREOR in Thecho, Sanogaon, Machhegaon and Chitlang where total of 470 earthquake affected families will be provided with financial grant and technical assistance to rebuild their houses under NRA guidelines. Lumanti is also providing similar support and assistance to the 380 earthquake affected families in Laharepauwa and Dhaibung VDC of Rasuwa in partnership with Cord Aid. Moreover, additional 200 earthquake affected families from Lele, Jharuwarashi and Chapagaon of Bajrabarahi Municipality and 250 families from Dalchowki VDC in Lalitpur are receiving similar grant and financial assistance from Lumanti with support from other partner Diakonie. Lumanti is supporting total of 1300 earthquake affected families through its reconstruction program being implemented in various areas.
