Community Empowerment

Lumanti believes that access to wide range of quality education to beneficiaries provides a foundation to a healthy dynamic society and lead towards empowerment and socio economic transformation of the society. Socio-economic transformation of the low-income families in the poor urban settlements is one of the key aims of Lumanti. Since its inception with the motive to improve the socio-economic situation of the low-income families, Lumanti has carried out different community focused activities under its thematic programs (Housing, WASH, Disaster resilient, and Community Finance) with the active participation of the people in these communities.

Capacity enhancement is a continuous process and there can never be a full stop towards learning. In the present changed context of political and development scenario such as commitment to SDGs, NUA and Sendai Framework, the need of learning more, understanding and implementation has been a greater challenge. The communities need to remain aware about their rights and space available andto remain equal footings in partnerships for collective interventions. Successful partnerships will make sustainable impact in the lives of the poor. Enhanced capacity is the basis of successful partnerships.

Lumanti believes that savings can be a key tool in organizing women, leading to socio-economic transformation of the women and the communities. Saving schemes is a strong form of community-based finance that ultimately helps communities to leverage resources, access land, safe and secure shelter and build a harmonious working relationship with the local governments.
