Reimagining Thasi Depa: A Space of Life, Culture, and Community

A community planning workshop titled “Reimagining Thasi Depa: A Space of Life, Culture, and Community” was successfully conducted in Thasi, Mahalaxmi Municipality on 19th January, 2026, bringing together local community members to collectively envision the future of Thasi Depa as a vibrant public space rooted in culture, everyday life and shared community values.

The workshop was designed as a participatory platform that encouraged diverse community voices to share their ideas and aspirations. Participants were organized into three groups -women, youth, and representatives of Guthi, to ensure inclusive representation across generations and social roles.

The workshop concluded with a collective reflection on the need to preserve the culturally significant areas of Thasi Depa while thoughtfully developing the remaining spaces as inclusive open areas accessible to people of all age groups. The insights gathered during the workshop will inform future planning and design processes, ensuring that the development of Thasi Depa reflects local values, needs and aspirations.
