Lajana represents CSOs in ICWG

Government of Nepal nominated Ms. Lajana Manandhar, Executive Director, Lumanti to the national working group formed for the preparation and implementation of SACOSAN V in Nepal. Ms. Manandhar is the National Convenor of JalSanjaal that hosts the FANSA chapter in Nepal.  The decision came at the eve of the Inter Country Working Group (ICWG) meeting and she has been invited to represent the CSOs in Nepal to the meeting hosted by the government of Nepal in Kathmandu from 27-29 November.

Through her representation at the national working group, she expects to achieve;  firstly a very good and effective partnership between the government and the CSOs at the national and regional levels, secondly an adequate space for CSOs to participate in the SACOSAN Vand thirdly an active engagement of the CSOs to have their interest, input, feedback for the working group.

"This will be a unique exposure to me," shared Ms. Lajana. "I will have an opportunity to understand how the agenda will be set up, and would the national working group has influence over it - I will know more about it," she added. "If I donot feel comfortable, then I will certainly speak up my feeling," she asserts.

Ms. Lajana said, "I think that my responsibility increased.  I have to find out effective ways of communicating with the CSOs - JalSanjaal and others too.  We need to establish two way communications.  Telling them what is happening at the planning level and relaying their interest and input to the planning team."

"Rather than me saying all the time what I think - I have to make the CSOs voice heard through me because I am representing them all there at the planning level, expressed Lajana. Her expression came out very much clear that her responsibility has increased during the conversation.
