Lumanti Support Group for Shelter along with Cordaid and Parivartan Patra received a Certificate of Appreciation for their outstanding coordination and cooperation in in post-earthquake recovery program of Nepal from May 2015 to December 2017 in remote villages of Rasuwa. Kalika Rural Municipality, on its program to appreciate its reconstruction partners, presented the certificate to Lumanti, Cordaid and Parivartan Patra. The program was organized by Kalika Rural Municipality on 15 December 2017.
Lumanti in partnership with Cordaid has been implementing reconstruction program in Ward 4 and 5 of Uttargaya Rural Municipality and Ward 3 of Kalika Rural Municipality targeting to support 380 earthquake affected families. Lumanti and Cordaid is providing technical as well as financial assistance to the earthquake affected families for the construction of permanent and safe homes. Parivartan Patra has also been implementing its program in Rasuwa.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson of Kalika Rural Municipality appreciated the work done by Lumanti in providing safe and secure home for the earthquake affected families. She stated, the effort made by Lumanti is highly appreciated for bringing back the smiles in the faces of the earthquake affected people. She further added, the component of promoting community saving through the establishment of women cooperative in the communities is exceptional and it leads to the sustainability of the project in Rasuwa.
Housing Program Manager of Lumanti and Country Representative of Cordaid, on the occasion, talking about the project reconstruction of houses for the earthquake affected families, they said, apart from building houses Lumanti, Cordaid and Parivartan Patra in collaboration have successfully accomplished the programs on DRR, Livelihood and WASH programs as well. They highlighted, Cordaid and Lumanti has also implemented relief and rescue programs immediately after earthquake 2015 in Rasuwa.
Other guests speaking on the occasion also appreciated the work done by all the partner organization including Lumanti, Cordaid and Parivartan Patra.
More than 50 people representing District Coordination Committee, Kalika Rural Municipality and Federation of Nepalese Journalists District Chapter along with representatives of political parties and community people attended the program.
